I know of another woman here in my town of C., Illinois, who had leukemia. I knew she wouldn't go on the full protocol, as it requires a determination to tell your doctor that, no, you aren't going to follow his/her recommendation and you would just like him/her around to monitor your progress. She at least was taking the flaxoil/cottage cheese mixture and I encouraged her to eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. Soon, her doctor ordered her to stop eating these things, as they could give her an 'infection', for she was anemic. How ridiculous! While she was eating the mixture, she said she did feel a little better. But she stopped when her doctor said to. Unfortunately, she died early this summer.

My father, on the other hand, dug his heels in and followed the protocol almost to the letter.I had a doctor literally scream at me, trying to force me to make my father follow conventional treatment for prostate cancer. His biopsy gave him septicemia which he almost died of---though it took 6 months to show up. That was the only thing that threatened his life. He held his ground, followed the protocol and so far his reports and scans show he's clean of cancer. And that was 5-6 years ago.

To those who may be interested,

On Feb 1st I had blood taken for the recent PSA.

On the face of it, the result did not sound good.

However, I have been going over the result in my mind and want to make a few observations.

My last three PSAs have been 96, 80 and 131 at approximately 6 week
intervals. This would seem disastrous with a medium aggressive Prostate
Cancer that is now apparently refractory.

At this point there is no help from Standard medicine of which I am
aware other than some chemo which might give a year of misery. I am not
planning on going that route.

As I thought of what has been happening I know that I have not followed
the complete Budwig protocol. As I have said before prior to around 2001 I
had not even known anything except adding the FO/CC to a normal diet and
still saw the results that are described in our website and there were
very few who did the same thing and did not respond. The testimonies on
the web site are not just the ones which looked good. They are all I
had room for in order.

When first diagnosed stage 4-1 with a medium aggressive Prostate Caancer
just 15 years ago on Valentine's day 1991 I had no hope. We went to a
Valentine party and I sat in stunned silence thinking that this might be
the last time I would see days like this. The percentage of men so
diagnosed 15 years ago who have followed standard medicine and are still
with us is not high.

Two years ago at this time my PSA was within normal limits for a man 82.

This seems crazy on the face of it as there has been little change in
what I have been doing.

However, as I analylize this I see some interesting things. Aaround
this time two years ago I began to use heavy amounts of Ellagic Acid
thinking the PSA would be further reduced. Instead it went up but I
didn't see the reason. It kept going up. I added three 12 oz. glasses
of tomato juice a day and it continued up. I increased the flax oil and
it seemed to plateau. Then, after about four months of tomato juice for
lycopene the PSA went to 49.5.

It was just a week before that blood draw that I read on the Flax list
that Dr. Budwig warned against using heavy antioxidant supplements with
flaxseed oil. The information on the list may have saved my life and
led to more understanding. Two days later I learned that ellagic acid
and lycopene are powerful antioxidants.

We went 6 weeks without the antioxidants and the PSA dropped to 49.1.
The next one 6 weeks or so later was 50. I thought we had it licked and
we went 3 more months and the PSA was 87. We made some changes in the
amount of flax oil. A bone scan at this point showed two spots; one on a
pelvic bone and one on a rib.

This to me is very significant. In all the previous years on flax oil
there was no spread. I knew the flax oil would inhibit metastasis and
here is evidence.
When I neutralized the effect of the flax oil with the antioxidants and
the PCa got going it spread to the bones.

Once the flaxseed oil was resumed the metastasis stopped and what was
there is apparently not developing. I think I could feel one for awhile
but that is gone.

I was trying to follow some dietary principles but I stayed with the
meat and ptatoes. When attending a church supper [Us Baptists eat
regularly] or a seniour citizen's luncheon it was kind of difficult
avoiding just a smidgeon or two of chocolate pie, cake, cake or what
have you. I know I have not gotten the rest I should be getting.

As I recall the PSA following 87 was 70. I had tried a Lupron shot just
to see
if it would have any effect. I don't believe it did. It certainly did
not as it did at first in 1991. Ther is no point in doing that again.
The next PSA was 96 then back to 80 then the last one at 131.

During the time I was essentially doing nothing the PCa developed
rapidly enough that I was aware of the increased bulk which has seemed
to subside somewhat but is still there.

I am now using 6 tablespoons of flax oil a day and will increase it if I
decide not to go with a TURP. I may need to do that. I will definitely
control the urge for anything with sugar and potatoes and things made
with white flour.

There is another major point which I am now facing. One does not die of
Prostate Cancer in the Prostate Gland. One dies of Prostate Cancer in
the tissues to where it spreads. I believe that the FO/CC will prevent
it developing in any other tissues. If that were going to happen it
would have
happened a long time ago.

If I can keep the PCa confined to the Prostate I should be around for
some time to come. It has been a rocky road at times but I am
learning. I know it will work because I have seen far too much in 15
years to believe otherwise.
